I lately spent 1/2 hour rewaxing the coat - with dryer in hand, operating that wax/oil into just about every pore of that coat. Walk towards the shop in a light moderate rain (20 minutes, perhaps) and low and behold, my shoulders are wet, well one shoulder was wet, the other dry. This was a 20 minute exposure, I can only envision being in the field or horseback riding for a couple of hours and how entirely soaked through my clothes would be!
Try a vintage shop, here in Portland, Or there used to be a place named the Major Bang, they had all kinds of old leathers, some even punk. They purchased off old schoolers. I sold my very first 1 there as well as a guy who I later dated turned out to be the one that purchased it. But vintage doesn't always mean OLD, it can mean classic lookin too. Great luck! oh and no matter what, langlets brand is crap and over priced. i got my youngsters initial leather at a goodwill store for like 8 bucks. She is always adding stuff to it.
The only reason I'm not into the techy stuff is their lack of durability when put to rough field use. Most likely OK when stand hunting or hiking cleared trails but when I used to hunt, I was typically on the move and commonly hike without benefit of cleared trails."
